Last Words: A Good Friday Liturgy
The gospel accounts of Jesus's crucifixion give us insight into the final words of Christ as he hung, dying on the cross. He spoke aloud seven times, and his words offer us a heavy but meaningful window into the agony he endured and the spiritual battle that waged in his human heart. From, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do" to "into Thy hands I commit my spirit."
On this Good Friday, we want to invite you into a liturgy experience of those final moments, where you can respond with reflection on and worship of the crucified Christ. No matter your interaction with "Last Words…" our prayer is simple: that as you listen to the final words of Christ before he breathed his last on the cross, the magnitude of his death for our sin would be fully realized and would lead you to a powerful celebration of the risen Christ this Easter! So that together we would sing, "It is done, it is finished - no more debt I owe! Paid in full, all sufficient merit now my own!"
